Matt Andersen In Concert 2010 International Blues Challenge Winner
Saturday, November 12, 2011| 8:00 pm |
Stratford | Knox Church | 142 Ontario St. | Tickets $30.00 General Admission - Doors - 7:15 pm
The best performing songwriters, the ones who sound like they really mean what they’re singing about, tend to come from areas known for hard times and hard work. Like say, Perth-Andover, a rural blue-collar village in the Canadian Maritime province of New Brunswick—the home of acclaimed singer-songwriter and guitarist Matt Andersen. One of the most electrifying performers touring today, Andersen owns the stage the moment he sets foot upon it. His honesty in his performances is second to none and reminds one of all of the great blues singers who have come before him. But he has a very emotional folk-story-telling side to him as well that really draws you into his personal conviction. This is what makes his live shows so magical, exciting and awe-inspiring. Matt has become a frequent guest on Stuart McLean’s CBC radio show “The Vinyl Café” and has completed several tours of the UK, where The Times called him “Canada’s greatest guitarist.” In 2010 he became the first Canadian to win Memphis’s famed International Blues Challenge, which led to festival dates in France, Italy, and the US, where he toured with Old Crow Medicine Show. Matt’s newest album, Coal Mining Blues, was produced by Colin Linden (who co-wrote and plays on several tunes) and recorded at Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock, New York and features 'The Band's' keyboardist Garth Hudson. Andersen performs over 200 shows a year and in 2011 won the Maple Blues Awards for Entertainer of the Year and Acoustic Act of the Year and was nominated for four East Coast Music Association awards. Don't miss one of Canada's truly great performers when Matt Andersen returns to Stratford Nov. 12!

Blue Rodeo
Saturday, December 3, 2011 | 8:00 pm |
Stratford | Festival Theatre | 55 Queen St. |
Tickets $59.50
Stratford Live is pleased to announce the return of Blue Rodeo to the Festival Theatre in Stratford for one show on Saturday, December 3rd, 2011.
Since the release of their debut album, Outskirts, in March 1987, Blue Rodeo has established themselves as one of the premiere bands in Canadian music history. Their twelfth studio album, The Things We Left Behind, was released in November of 2009 on Warner Music in Canada and TeleSoul Records in the US. Over the course of their stellar career Blue Rodeo has released 12 studio albums, two live albums, a greatest hits collection and an award-winning DVD, selling in excess of four million copies around the world.Led by Greg Keelor and Jim Cuddy, Blue Rodeo has amassed over 4 million units in sales and has never released a studio album in its 20 plus year recording history that hasn't achieved at least Gold Sales level.
Blue Rodeo emerged in the early 80's as a countrified rock band in the era of hair metal and glossy pop. Their single "Try" became omnipresent on radio across Canada and set in motion a three decade long career of headlining every club, theatre and hockey arena in Canada. In 1993, when grunge rock was squeezing commercial rock off the radio, they recorded their quietest album, Five Days In July, and scored their biggest hit selling over a half million copies of that one record alone.
